The Anne Stamm Fund (focused on education of school children about birds) awarded three grants totaling nearly $1500 in 2009. The recipients were Tom Sawyer State Park Foundation, Concord Elementary School of Paducah, and South Marshall Middle School of Benton. The latter two awards will involve students working with the Clarks River National Wildlife Refuge.
The KOS Board encourages all members to make contributions to both the Anne Stamm Fund and the Burt Monroe Fund. To do so, make checks payable to the Kentucky Ornithological Society (and designate on the check or in a cover letter where the funds should go) and send to Lee McNeely, Treasurer, Kentucky Ornithological Society, P.O. Box 463, Burlington, KY 41005.
The Kentucky Ornithological Society has a variety of bird-oriented magazines and journals available for purchase.
All prices will be negotiated, but most magazines
and journals will be sent for the cost of shipping. Of course, donations of additional money to the Kentucky Ornithological Society will be accepted. The list of available items can be viewed at www.biology.eku.edu/kos/journals.html. If interested, please contact Brainard Palmer-Ball, Jr. at brainard.palmer-ball@ky.gov.
