Master of Science
Available Facilities

  • Office- All Graduate Teaching Assistants and Part-time Instructors will be provided with an office (desk and bookshelf). Other graduate students will be provided with offices as space permits.

  • Keys - Graduate Students will be provided with keys to the Moore and/or Memorial Science Building, to their offices, and, as needed, classrooms. See Tim Weckman (Moore 121) to obtain needed keys.

  • Photocopying - Each Graduate Student will be assigned an 'account' for 250 copies on the department's copier in Moore 232A (see Sheila Cornette in Moore 232A or Barbara Rupard in Moore 235 about obtaining your account). Any copies needed for teaching can be made using the department's account. If possible, provide Barbara with the materials that need to be copied at least 24 hours before needed and she'll make the copies for you using the department account.

  • Mailing privileges - Each Graduate Student will be assigned a mailbox in Moore 232A. In addition, the department will provide postage for anything related to a student's teaching or research responsibilities (e.g., mailing reprint cards). Simply write or type the department's budget code (210600) next to or below the return address and place the envelope, card, or package in the mailbox in Moore 232A.

  • Reprint cards - These cards can be used to request reprints of published articles from the author. Cards can be obtained from Barb Rupard. If you're not familiar with reprint card protocol, see your advisor or Gary Ritchison.

  • Research Funds - The department will provide limited funds for supplies need to conduct thesis research. See your advisor or Gary Ritchison for additional information.

  • Library - Graduate students can, of course, check out materials from the EKU library. A current student ID is, however, needed. In addition to checking out books, graduate students can check out bound volumes of journals for one day. An advantage to doing so is that you can use the department copier to photocopy needed articles rather than paying to use the library copiers. Graduate students can also obtain materials (books, articles, theses, and dissertations) not available in the EKU library via Interlibrary Loan. The ILL (Interlibrary Loan) request form is available online. The library also provides access to a variety of databases, abstracting services and electronic journals.

  • E-mail services - Every student is expected to have an EKU e-mail address. You can activate your account now and e-mail your friends. It's FREE! If you'd like, you can also create a personal webpage.

  • Computers - Graduate students have access to computers in the Technology Information Center (Memorial Science 270) and in four Student Technology Labs.
