Natural Bridge Bird Count -- Join a park naturalist for a guided motor tour counting birds at various stops within a 15-mile circle around Natural Bridge State Resort Park.  The area surveyed will include the Red River Gorge. We will count every individual bird and bird species that we see from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Participants should bring their own lunch and drink.  Bird count data over time in any given area can provide valuable insights into the long-term health of bird populations and the environment... and besides, it's fun and free!  Dress for the weather, bring your binoculars and meet at the Hemlock Lodge Lobby.  If interested in counting birds on your own, a map of possible birding locations and a bird checklist will be available at the front desk of the Hemlock Lodge.  Contact Park Naturalist, Brian Gasdorf, at 606 663-2214 or brian.gasdorf@ky.gov for more information.  An 8:00 am – 8:30 am presentation on winter bird identification will be held in Hemlock Lodge for those that are interested.
